Providence Health & Services Scheduler/Registrar (On Call) in Polson, Montana
Providence St. Joseph Health Medical Center is calling a variable/on-call, Scheduler/Registrar to our location in Polson, MT.
We are seeking a Scheduler/Registrar to be accountable for scheduling various types of patient appointments from simple office visits to complex procedures. This may include coordinating schedules with multiple providers, specialized equipment, and other specialized resources. Complexity of this position is evidenced by the use of simple and complex medical terminology and enterprise scheduling protocols. The scheduling specialist; displays professional interpersonal skills and presence when communicating with physicians, staff and the public; as the front-line customer service representative, upholds and exhibits the core values in all communication. It is essential that this information be documented timely and accurately.
In this position you will have the following responsibilities:
Contact with patient by telephone to interview them with courtesy and demonstrated service excellence to create appointments and schedule procedures.
Responsible for the efficient coordination of all providers, specialized equipment and other specialized resources.
Courteously and professionally responding to multiple phone calls and requests that often occur simultaneously.
Completes registration, verifying demographics and insurance, at the time of scheduling.
Collecting and scheduling accurate information regarding physician or patient special requirements, patient demographics to avoid duplicate errors, and/or refer call to appropriate person/department.
Collaborate with other departments regarding scheduling, resource or staffing conflicts.
Transcribe order and/or link order to patient appointment.
Ensure all computer system entries are completed accurately and timely.
Maintain accurate, clear, concise, and complete account notes and other relevant information.
Maintain confidentiality of all patients’ demographic, medical, and financial information, ensuring proper handling and disposal of confidential documents and adherence to HIPAA.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or General Equivalency Degree (GED).
One experience in customer service or healthcare registration.
Clerical and computer experience.
Demonstrated outstanding customer service experience.
Proven excellent attention to detail with a focus on quality.
Demonstrated ability to appropriate resolve and escalate issues.
A track record in organizing and planning with demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and achieve results in a fast paced environment.
Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes electronic and automated work tools (eg, online access tools to payers, work drivers).
Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously and work effectively with interruptions.
Ability to identify and solve complex problems.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
Demonstrated knowledge of CPT and ICD coding and medical terminology.
Basic knowledge of insurance and managed care payors, healthcare registration, Medicare Secondary Payor, EMTALA and ABN.
Previous registrar, scheduler and third party payer experience.
